Katy was the oldest child. She was very tall. All of
the children listened to her and did what she said.
Clover was next. She was sweet, happy, and pretty.
She had blue eyes. She was the best Carr in school.
Then came Elsie, who had dark eyes and short hair.
The older girls did not want her to play with them.
The girls had a brother named Dorry. He was a little
fat. He was also a serious boy.
Joanna was a year younger than Dorry. She was
always ready to laugh. Dorry and Joanna were great
friends.
Phil was the youngest. He was a baby of four years.
Because Katy was the oldest, she tried to be good to
show the others how to act. However, she often showed
them how not to act!
