One of the boy’s father had a ship. The boys would
travel on that ship, and the boy’s father would be the
captain. He and a crew of five other men would lead the
six-week trip.
The boys said goodbye to their parents and took
their bags onto the ship. One of the older boys, Gordon,
even brought along his little dog, Fan.
Everyone slept on the ship that evening because
they had to leave very early in the morning.
After the boys had gone to bed, the captain and the
crew left the ship. They wanted to have one last drink at a
restaurant near the harbor.
