The Korean peninsula used to be one country. Now it is
two. The country of Korea was
divided
into the South
and the North in 1951.
South Korea has both mountains and forests. The
highest point is Halla Mountain, an
extinct volcano

South Korea has cold winters and hot, wet summers.
North Korea is mostly mountainous. Rivers divide the
mountains. The highest peak is Baekdu Mountain, a
volcano. North Korea also has rainy summers. Winters
are very cold. They can last up to six months.

a huge lake.
