An hour later, Gordon woke up. He felt that the ship
was moving. He got out of bed and climbed outside to
have a look. He realized that the ship was floating away!
He could see the lights of the harbor far way.
Gordon woke up three other boys: Briant, Moko, and
Donagan. However, there was not much they could do. A
strong wind was taking them away from land.
Only Moko and Briant had been on a sailing ship
before. They tried to put up the sails, but the sails were
much too heavy.
Soon the ship was caught in a storm. The wind and
the waves hit the small ship day and night for almost two
weeks. The ship was badly damaged by the storm.
Then one morning, Moko saw land. Soon the strong
wind and waves carried the damaged boat onto a sandy
beach.
