Necile was a wood nymph. She took care
of the trees. She made sure weeds did not hurt
them. After some time, the weeds left the trees
alone. Necile had very little work to do. Soon,
she became bored.
One day, Ak, the Master Woodsman of the
world, came to visit. The wood nymphs sat
around him. Ak told them about people. He
said,
“They are mortal beings. They grow old
and die.”
Most of the time, Ak did not try to help
people. But sometimes, he helped children.
On this night, Ak said,
“I found a baby. A
lion was going to eat it. I stopped her. I told her
to take care of the baby.”
