Introduction
Hans Christian Andersen was a fairy tale
writer and poet. He was born in Denmark in
1805. He wrote this story in 1844. It is read by
children around the world.
Other famous stories by Andersen are
“The Little Mermaid,” “Thumbelina,” “The Ugly
Duckling,” and “The SnowQueen.” Many of his
fairy tales are nowmovies.
