Look at the title page and read the title together.

Look at the picture on the title page. Does it give the children any clues
about the story?

Look at the picture on page 2.
Do you think the boy likes his toys? Why do
you think that?
While You Read:
Have students read the story quietly.
Give them something specific to focus on. For example:
Read the story to find
out about the mistakes Tom makes.
If necessary, assist the children with the first one or two pages, and then
encourage them to read on their own.
Help students as needed.
After You Read:
Ask questions about what students have read.

Ask students to help you make a list of other words with the same double-letter
